Pendle MP, Andrew Stephenson, has welcomed the maintained numbers of people using Pendle’s train services. Latest figures released have shown a slight decrease in the number of people using railway services in Pendle, down 0.78% from 2014/15.
During 2014/5, Pendle’s train stations saw 258,212,606 journeys. This included 129,762 people using Nelson Interchange, 31,504 used Brierfield station, and 96,946 used Colne railway station.
Andrew Stephenson MP, who lives close to Colne Railway station, commented, “I was sorry to see a slight drop in the number of passengers, however welcome the government’s decision to replace all the trains using the line. The outdated rolling stock, which also isn’t easy for disabled people to use, is one of the things that put people off using our local line, so the governments decision is very welcome and hopefully should help increase passenger numbers."
